Pretty fun but...

Needs a bigger dictionary. There were some common words that it didn't accept (and yes, I looked up the spelling on them). Otherwise kinda fun.

Double submission!!!

Yes, you did mess up on the menu on the other one. I'm guessing you fixed it on this one, but I played it on the last one cause I right clicked and played. Not much to it (no story or anything I mean). It seems like a reasonable engine, much like paper mario or something. You should fix the clicking though, it doesn't seem like there's any need for timing or anything. I simply clicked like crazy when mario was about to jump on the enemy and it worked every time.

Good but...

I can tell this took some work and its fun to play, but you really should have put Devil May Cry in the title. Sure this doesn't really seem to have a storyline so I can't compare that to DMC but the gameplay, the enemies, the main character, the combo system, even the menus, it's very obvious that almost every corner of this game was inspired by DMC but I didn't see any mention of it. You've gotta give credit where credit is due. I'd have much more respect for you as an author if you at least mentioned your a Devil May Cry fan in your author's comments, cause right now you're pulling a total Carlos Mencia.

Dizimz responds:

It is in the title.

I'm pro at this!

Pro Tip: Hold the A key and approach an enemy. If you're seriously worried about the occasional hits you'll get from ranged enemies block one of their attacks then proceed while holding A, you don't really need to block though as your hp will refill faster than your opponents can damage you in most cases. For fun, occasionally use the special attack. Don't worry about opponents attacking, since the attacks apparently run off of a hittest for the entire MC allowing you to attack the ogre's maces with your sword and still kill them. Ignore the S button for any purpose other than taunting the poor A.I. who can do nothing against your held A key.

To the author: This was by no means a bad game, but the gameplay is rather simple. You should put some AS in place to prevent the attack happening over and over when the player holds the key. Also you should use hitboxes or something so that enemies (and the player) take damage when their bodies are attacked rather than their weapons. Other than that, this game is pretty good at what the aim was, but I think you should have tested it out a bit more and tried to counter programming weak spots like that.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Yeah you are right. I still have to work on improving combat scenarios in games,. Although I think I have improved a lot on my previous game (Swept to the End), I still need to get better. The reason why I made this so easy was mainly because most people complained that Swept to the End was way too difficult. (Its also a sidescroller) I dunno, maybe I made it a bit too easy this time. I've realised how to make the hit detection much better while making this game, but way too late in production to implement it into this game. It will have to wait for my next project Im afraid :)

Thanks a lot for your honesty and Im finding all these reviews extremely helpful!

Kinda fun but...

I'm eatin your fudge.

You had me and you lost me...

I was having great fun with this and then all of a sudden when i was down to about 5 lives on the fire ring the game started skipping the test runs and just subtracting lives. I would click go and the run would flash and then it would return to the building screen with my track gone and one less life as if my attempt had failed yet it wouldn't let me watch. I tried rewinding the flash and starting from the beginning however it still did the same thing but this time on the first track when i had built a ramp that i already KNEW worked (because i had already beaten the level). So it wasn't that it was testing it without showing me, it was simply assuming that i wouldn't succeed and subtracting a life without even trying my ramp. Since you claim in the author's comments that this sort of thing isn't a glitch I can only assume that for whatever reason you believed that it would be a neat feature to just randomly screw people over and make the game unplayable. Cute idea but irritating enough to make me hate this game.

Undefined...

So I'm playing along nicely, just starting to truly enjoy this game, and boom. I give the guy at the well the vase, he informs me that it will work in the well, he holds it over the well and says "Undefined" which is apparently a voodoo word for paralysis as I could no longer move or interact, there was nothing, total frozenness, that is a truly stupid way to end this story. For making me think there would be some definate ending and goal achievement and then stopping everything with a simulated glitch, I smite thee.

Not bad but...

This is a useful tutorial. Kudos to you on putting so much of this together. One thing that drove me crazy about it though... <3 does not mean own. I <3 j00 isn't i own you, that's like saying :D means email or 8===D~ means grandmother!! Other than that, a couple grammar issues, and the music, not too shabby.

GAMECUBICLE responds:

WHY DOES EVERYONE HAS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE NEWGROUNDS SECTION, THATS THE NOT EVEN THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IN THE TUTORIAL

Familiar...

You submitted this before, and it was the same length back then. This isn't even long enough to be considered a demo, there was no point in submitting this.

This rocks!

First of all let me say that this is really awesome. Nice look to it, good interactivity, this is all-around pretty good, but half of reviewing is pointing out flaws too. First of all, this demo is really really short. Second, you're view of Pico's personality clashes with mine. I'm not saying you're wrong, maybe I'm just stupid, but it felt awkward to me reading the remarkably arrogant comments Pico had. I'll email Tom and ask him, and he'll ignore me, and I'll email him a few more times. Lastly, "rock NG down"? Rock NG down... hmmm...

GROMHELLGROUND responds:

Thanks for your review, I changed the personality of Pico indeed, I did it because I liked the old Pico but he became older and thouger I guess;) Rock NG Down was I quote i used for a review of pico's school i think, can't remember excactly... but who cares!

Be a blessing to others and you will be blessed.
