[Legacy Episode 2]

My opinion...

Your art is very pretty. If it is any consolation, I do not think that you traced. Your voices were well acted (though some of them in the latter half of the flash seemed a bit poorly recorded). I want you to understand that I admire these things, and that I do applaud you on them. Please do not take what I am about to type as a savage insult session or something. That being said, you seemed to take a great deal of artistic shortcuts in this flash that left me a bit dissapointed. With your impressive artistic style I was hoping to see a glorious ninja fight scene, however there was no such thing. All conflicts in this flash were dealt with very quickly (in my opinion TOO quickly). While it does develope a character to have him slash through opposition in mere seconds, it makes a movie far more entertaining to have at least one duel between two warriors of relatively close skill. Just one fight that lasted over a minute or so would have greatly improved this flash. The closest to a reasonable duel that I saw was when he crossed swords with that guard, however that battle was mostly the tips of two swords poking at each other with a bland background (one of the artist shortcuts I was referring to earlier). I would also suggest that you increase the frames per second. I can't really tell what this is running on, but it looks a bit choppy. I'm sorry to hear that you won't be submitting anymore flashes, you seem to have potential. But I do agree with your statement that the ninja thing has been done. I understand why you don't want to continue this series. Btw, the point I gave you in humor is due simply to the line at the end about the guy's death coming quicker for medling. I thought that was witty.

While your art isn't drop dead gorgeous, I really don't think you should knock it. It's quite good compared to a lot of art here on NG, and I for one think it's good enough to make a series on. If you want to improve though just try to take notice of small things from other professional artists (like comic book authors and such). Pick out what traits you like, and tweak your style to be something similar, but as I said, I think you're fine for the most part. Now, a few things. For starters, having someone's head completely explode (to the point that not even fragments of head remain) into a blood stain on the wall from a pistol blast is a bit much. That, and the way that the first cop didn't seem to worried by the fact that there was a gun to his face... Those things seemed a little unrealistic, know what I mean? I would like to know what direction you're gonna take this series in. There are a lot of options, but remember that if you want to make a series you're going to need a plot that can carry on for at least 3 episodes. I really look forward to what you're going to do with this series though. By the way, don't get discouraged if this preview gets a low score. About 99 out of 100 previews, trailers, and teasers get scores MUCH lower than the actual series will. I'll be watching out for this one. Good luck dude, God bless.

[NG Tournament: Semi's 1]

A Good Effort But...

For starters, your choice in characters is a bit... I dunno... Obscure. I don't know what flash the grave keeper comes from (I assume he comes from some NG flash, otherwise he wouldn't really have a place in an NG tournament would he?) but I wish you would have chosen better known NG favorites. Personally, I don't like seeing Xiao Xiao all the time because it seems to me like a lot of artists say "Ooooh, a stick, those are easy to draw. I can claim that my stick is Xiao Xiao and people will go nuts!" I'm not saying that YOU did that, but a lot of people do, so I generally look for other characters in the flash (non-stick based ones) and see how much effort was put into animating them to judge an artists effort with a flash. Your other characters seemed to have a limited range of motion. Xiao Xiao's weren't fbf. At least, half of them I know weren't. When he was partially transparent I could specifically see each joint, meaning that every limb was a movie clip or a graphic, which means that they were being tweened, not drawn frame by frame. Your sense of humor was a bit obnoxious to be honest. I'm talking about all the swearing. A little bit can be really funny, but everytime you use a cuss word it loses a little more effect, and you kinda went overboard. I really don't think Xiao Xiao would swear that much. I should end this review, but like I said, you should try to incorporate more well-known newgrounds originals. Not sprites and demon thingies from who-knows-where.

i wasnt going to respond to this but it was staying on my mind lol. First off, yea i know the choice of characters wasn't the best, i started this a loong time ago and wasnt aware of everyone in NG although i have been trying to include a lot more, not so much for fighting but appearing here and there, such as P-Bot, Leon from legendary frog, eskimo bob etc. I didnt say all xiaos motion wer fbf but a lot of the fighting was, and as for the swearing, i can honestly only remember the bit after he dodges the big laser thing..? although i was not meaning to just claim a stick as xiao, i watched all his movies at least 3 times to see how he moved, but thanks 4 the review and hopefully u will like the next one more

I hadn't smiled all day, but this really cheered me up. I'm utterly baffled as to why the score is 3.66, this is HILARIOUS. I suppose some people just aren't familiar with Max, since plenty of this is inside jokes and such, but I have the game. This is the funniest flash I have seen in a very long time, you have a great sense of humor. I wanted to IM you and tell you that in fact, but I suppose this review will do. Keep it up, I can't wait for more!

Well...

Not to offend (since my opinion won't matter much out of the sea of reviewers) but a lot of it seemed confusing. There was some good animation in the second guy's stuff, and some nice art work in the first guy's stuff, and the last guy's stuff was... But the reason I vote so ridiculously well (by comparison to how I usually vote) for this flash goes totally to livecorpse. I actually laughed out loud, which I rarely do at a flash. AIDs... Oh God... Good stuff man, seriously. Yeah, everyone thinks I'm an idiot now. *sigh*

Well...

This preview isn't really worth submitting. In the future, try to keep in mind that the preview will often be rated on it's own entertainment value rather than the series that it's about. I like your art and I probably will watch your flash, but this preview is more or less a waste of time and as such, I'm afraid I can't give it a very good score.

Funny...

You say that people who give you bad reviews should make their own movies, yet you simply traced parts of a rodney mullen video (which I happen to have on my comp as I speak). Way to make your own stuff... (by the way, that's sarcasm, I know it'll go over your head though)

Not too bad but...

Your art style is a bit blocky. It's still very pretty impressive, however the jagged edges become a bit too noticeable so I can't give you a perfect score on it. Your audio, much to the contrary of what Wannabe Clock believes, leaves a bit to be desired. The voice parts were kind of staticky, though I am impressed with the old-school fighting sound effects. Your animation was pretty good. I wouldn't go as far as to say traced, but it was pretty good. The problem I had with the flash is that it felt a bit too short. I would have preferred a longer flash with a bit more depth to the story. I know it probably took a while to shade and do the animation and stuff, but honestly, if I make a 6 second flash of some guy picking his nose it doesn't matter how realistically he looks and moves, people are bound to bitch about the length. I know this is the first episode, and those are usually slow, so I'll wait for your next episode before I start seriously dropping the score over plot developement. Overall, not too shabby. Keep up the good work.
