Interesting experiment.

Here's what I liked:
-Some of the art looked good.
-The audio was pretty good.

Here's what I didn't:
-Yet another DBZ recap flash. There aren't a lot of flash ideas I'd say have been done to death but this is definitely one of them.
-The inconsistent art style didn't look good. I realize that the whole point of the flash was doing it in different styles but that doesn't make the end result any more pleasing to the eye.
-Some of the "styles" were questionable. "Nicki Minaj" was a pasted doggy head with a wig, followed quickly by "doggy style" which is a pasted doggy head without a wig. You should have omitted styles like that and done some better looking art.
-Most of this wasn't funny. Piccolo's erection gave me a chuckle but the rest of the flash didn't have humor that I'd expect someone 9 and up to laugh at.
-You felt the need to tell people to vote 5. Not only in the flash, but in the author's comments. Like someone walking up to you on the street and saying "tell me you like my shirt and that my hair is fantastic" it comes off as obnoxiously self-absorbed. Or pathetically insecure, haven't decided yet...

I was pretty confused at first as to why Robin's voice kept changing. I read the author's comments though and that just raised other questions like why did the oldest Robin sound more childlike than the second Robin?

The art could use some work but at least it's consistent (I hate these flashes that try to be funny by using different art styles on every new camera angle). Some of the humor did make me laugh though, so kudos on that.

oldmanorange responds:

Thanks a bunch. And yah the Robin's looking practically identical is supposed to be kinda a joke to the older comics.

Guys shoot crates without any sound effects for bullets, hitting each other, or falling down. One guy gets a gattling gun that he shoots the crate with. The other guy films it. Both laugh a lot at nothing.

That's the whole flash. Nothing funny or entertaining, the audio's not that good either. The animation is okay (even though one guy looks like a girl) but as a standalone flash this is pretty pointless. Just unnecessary fan worship of something that's not that great to begin with.

Why does that woman have a man's voice?.... Nevermind. This was really random and weird. The art and animation were great, but that's where my praise must end. The writing was beyond stupid and just jumped from one thing to the next without any connecting factor. This is honestly the kind of thing that even in the concept stages one should see that it's not worth making into an animation. Yes, I'm aware that the audio and writing are game grump stuff, but that doesn't magically make this any better. If i was capable of painting the mona lisa out of dogshit that doesn't mean I should actually do it, I should go find some more pleasant substance and put my talents to good use. The same rule applies here. It's like watching someone with telekinesis use that gift to become the world's ultimate bartender.

Eh...

Here's what I liked:
-The animation was pretty smooth.
-The audio was alright.

Here's what I didn't:
-It was really random. The writing didn't build toward a specific pun or anything it was just the casts of two cartoons spazzing out.
-The art was really inconsistent. The way people were drawn was changing so frequently it looked like 9 different people did the art for this flash. It was really distracting and bad.
-It was... This flash just sucked. I'm not even going to sugar coat it anymore. This was a really craptastic crap that prayed that a lot of loud, incoherent speech coupled with excessive blood would somehow make people laugh. No wit, no plot, no actual humor. This was just plain a turd. Don't bother replying, I don't read them. It would be the second biggest waste of time of your life. Guess what the first was.

YULFO83 responds:

The first one was the day you were conceived.

Gonna cut this one right down the middle cause I share an equal love and hate for what it is.

Here's what I liked:
-Your art style is cute and fun to look at.
-Your art is consistent. None of that "one second they're super chibi and the next they're super detailed and the next they have the face of nicolas cage" garbage that's so popular these days.
-Your animation is absolutely fantastic. The panning camera and sense of motion is really exciting and I would love to see you do some kind of original story like this.

Here's what I didn't:
-The audio. Nothing witty or funny is said, just some pointless swearing and some obvious comments. Yes, I realize that this is ripped from a video that's probably (yet another) some guys playing a video game they're bad at and talking the entire time (I hate all of those videos and honestly don't see the draw), but my review is just meant to review the content here, which means I need to take the audio in the context of this video, in which it's... Well... Pretty stupid.
-The laughing. So painfully annoying, yet, so incredibly frequent.
-The writing. (Yup, the spew of profanity and commenting on what's happening like a ringside announcer is so incredibad that it has to be mentioned twice.)

Overall you have SOOOO much skill, please don't blow it on animating dumb youtube videos of guys with not even a fraction of your creativity.

CatFat responds:

I appreciate your review!
It's objective and constructive reviews like this that I love NG for.

Ehhhh, not bad but not great either.

Here's what I liked:
-The backgrounds were awesome. They looked very anime-fitting. Kudos.
-The animation was pretty smooth.
-The audio wasn't bad quality (the acting and writing is another matter).
-Naruto being painfully obviously crazy stupid gay in love with Sasuke is accurate.

Here's what I didn't:
-Doing a bunch of ever-changing weird faces is incredibly overdone now and hasn't been funny since Ren and Stimpy went off the air. This is no exception. It was just annoying and distracting and frankly still images would have been more enjoyable to watch. It's a desperate plea for someone to find your art funny, like the visual equivalent of when you and your friends are singing a song that you know they might make fun of you for liking so you sing it really poorly and offkey and make up random lyrics about how much the song sucks and stuff... Oh wait...
-You sung a song really poorly and offkey and made up random lyrics about how much the song sucks and stuff, again a desperate plea to fit in and be accepted. It's one thing to try to make up some witty parody lines that poke fun at it, but you didn't try to do anything funny with the song (at least I hope that wasn't your idea of witty humor) and it wasn't really necessary to include the song at all, so basically what you did could have just as easily been achieved by ending with a big message that said "Naruto is for nerds. It's okay to like me because I don't really like Naruto. It's poopy. Am I popular yet?" Basically the same as when someone with no animation skill who's never felt the need to make a cartoon decides to make a really crappy cartoon of Justin Bieber eating dog poop. It's not inspiration or some profound statement or even practice for something better, they just want to be popular for hating something that it's okay to hate.
-Between the endless dicks, the faggot comments, and the out-of-character affection Sasuke showed it seems like you really just want to draw boy love yaoi stuff but, as this flash illustrated, you're not willing to admit to liking anything that your friends won't approve of. Don't worry, I can read between the lines. I studied psychology. if you keep repressing those emotions you're going to to rape your grandfather so just let it out.
-Overall this flash didn't rely on wit or anything, just a hope that weird drawings of faces and a few sudden random mood swings would come off as funny. Unfortunately it really just didn't.

DuDuL responds:

Mr. Psychologist missed the mark on that one.
Other than that - thx

Different.

Here's what I liked:
-The sort-of-pixelated art style was really cool. Very awesome and unique.
-The audio was spot on. I suppose it was loud but it sounded great and was truly faithful to the source material.
-The animation was pretty smooth.
-The backgrounds looked great. Good to see you go that extra mile.

Here's what I didn't:
-The pun could have been executed in funnier ways. Seems like the core of the joke was stealing the air and sacrificing Tails. I think that could have been funnier if it was done with some sort of block or last second steal or some other form of comedic violence. Having him take the air so that Sonic could spend 30 seconds making goo goo eyes at him before they make out was unnecessary. Yeah, we get it, Sonic's about to lip lock with Tails, move on.
-Sonic should have died before Tails even grabbed the bubble. He seemed to survive well past what the musical cue said should be his death time. Even then he wasn't gagging or struggling for air, he was calmly spending an hour making eyebrows at Tails.
-Why didn't Sonic go for a different bubble, or move more than 2 inches after going underwater? It's like he desperately wanted an excuse to kiss/kill Tails.
-Considering the sheer number of ways this could have been done you picked the only one that forces (through several logic errors by both Sonic and Tails) the two of them to press their faces together. I suspect you're really into SonicxTails yaoi or something, but what happened here (forced sexual contact leading to the death of a young boy) doesn't come off as funny, just... Disturbing...

MichaFrario responds:

Reverse CPR Disturbing? Mission complete!

The writing was weird and random, walking in on someone doing something embarrassing is a pretty common cliche so when you do it you need to really make it something that will surprise and amuse the viewer (just felt kinda dull and corny here), and LOUDER = FUNNIER is apparently big in Japan (since it's the rule of every anime ever) but not the case where I've grown up (the United States) so you lose points for those things.

Still, your animation was pretty tight, your art was decent, and your audio was pretty good.

You should consider having someone else co-write with you to maybe spruce up the humor here and there.

Eh.... The animation had moments that it was nice. The same can be said (kind of) about the art. The humor was too random though. Random humor is usually funny because 2/3rds of the script will make sense and just when you get comfortable something random comes out of nowhere. None of this made sense, there was no moments of normalcy to compare the random to. Picture a crack dealer screaming the F word and then picture a hamster doing the same thing. It'll be less funny when the crack dealer does it cause that's pretty much what you expected cause you're quick to judge people based on their professions. Shame on you.

The same thing applies to all the stupid faces you had them do. Had you given them normal faces for the whole flash and just had one moment where for no reason Goku's face goes weird that would be funny. Instead you made weird zany faces the norm so there was nothing particularly amusing about it.

Overall, none of this was particularly great, though there were some very brief periods of nice looking art so I'll give you two stars.

Be a blessing to others and you will be blessed.
